FAQ

Questions, answered.

Short answers about files, NFT metadata, credits, payment and your account.

Files and editor

Which files can I import?

An SVG with layers, up to 10 MB and 2,000 colourable shapes. Exports from Figma, Illustrator, Inkscape and Affinity are supported: groups become folders, every colour is detected, including colours set in CSS. See the guide to prepare your file.

Does SVG Variants change my drawing?

No. Your file is read, never modified. SVG Variants only writes new files: one per edition, plus metadata.

How are variants chosen?

You decide. Each palette gives a frequency to its colours, each variant set gives a frequency to its layers, and the number of possible combinations is counted as you work.

Can two editions be identical?

No. Editions are drawn without repeating a combination, so no two editions share the same combination of colours and variants. In a project, the same recipe and the same number of editions give the same collection, so you can generate again without losing an edition.

Your NFT files

What do I get at the end?

Depending on the output you pick: SVG files; PNG files at 1024 or 2048 px; an NFT collection, with a PNG at 1024 or 2048 px and a JSON metadata file per edition (the SVG of each edition is an option, +1 credit); or PNG files at the size of a print product at 300 DPI. Rarity statistics come with an NFT collection.

What is in the JSON metadata?

One JSON file per edition, with its name, description, image, edition number and attributes, each attribute being a trait_type and a value. Rarity statistics for the editions you export come in a separate file, rarity-stats.json. The image field holds the local file name of the image, such as 1.png in the collection ZIP: before you mint, replace it with the link where you host the image, for example an IPFS address. SVG Variants does not mint, deploy contracts, upload to IPFS, connect wallets or list anything on a marketplace.

Who owns the generated images?

You keep all rights to your drawings and to the files generated from them; SVG Variants claims no ownership. You need the rights to what you upload.

Credits and payment

How does pricing work?

Pay as you go, no subscription: you get 100 free credits once you verify your e-mail, and a pack, bought once, adds credits that you spend generation after generation. Packs are priced in euros and paid in crypto. Composing, previewing and downloading cost nothing. Packs are not on sale yet. Details on the pricing page.

How do I pay for a pack?

In cryptocurrency, through NOWPayments: BTC, ETH, USDT (TRC-20), LTC or SOL. Prices are in euros; the amount in the coin you choose is calculated when you open the payment, and shown with the payment address and the network. Send only that coin, on that network. Your credits are added once the payment is confirmed; how long that takes depends on the coin and the network. Make sure paying with cryptocurrency is allowed where you live. Packs are not on sale yet.

What can I do for free?

On the free plan, you recolour your SVG by colour in the Colours tab and generate SVG only files or PNG only files at 1024 px, with your 100 free credits. You can try every other feature for free in the previews. Generating files with them needs an account with a pack: layer selection and strokes, variant sets, custom metadata traits, pixel art, the collection background, PNG at 2048 px, JSON metadata, the SVG option and print files.

How long are credits valid?

180 days. Paid credits are valid 180 days from the purchase date of each pack, and the 100 free credits 180 days from the day they are added. If you run out after buying a pack, we add 100 bonus credits once per account, valid 180 days from the day they are added; we may change or end this offer. Free and bonus credits are used first, then your packs in the order you bought them. Expired credits are lost and are not refunded.

Can I get a refund?

Yes, for unused credits, within 14 days of buying a pack: you get back the price you paid for the pack (including any tax) × the credits of that pack not yet spent ÷ the credits in the pack, in the cryptocurrency you paid with. Credits already spent are not refunded. Write to contact@svgvariants.com with the e-mail address of your account, the pack you bought and the address where you want to receive the refund. If a generation fails, its credits come back to your balance automatically. Details in the refund policy.

Your account

How do I close my account?

Write to contact@svgvariants.com from the e-mail address of your account; there is no button for this yet. Download the files you want to keep first. Your data is then deleted without undue delay, except the payment and credit records the law requires us to keep. Unused credits are lost, unless you are still within the 14-day refund period of a pack. Details in the terms of service.

Can I use the studio now?

Yes. The studio is open and free to start: sign up at app.svgvariants.com. Packs are not on sale yet; you can leave your e-mail to be notified when they go on sale.
